  • 45-60 minute session at location of your choosing
  • Session can be done outdoors, in-home, or in a studio (studio included at no extra cost if choosing from my list of preferred studios)
  • Minimum of 40+ retouched, downloadable digital images delivered via online gallery
  • Pet(s) are welcome if location allows
  • Optional outfit change if timing allows

engagement session FAQ

This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?

I don't expect any client to feel like an expert! As your photographer, it's my job to help guide you through our session, making you feel comfortable and stress-free. By using fun (and probably ridiculous-sounding) prompts is my way of keeping the smiles genuine and the laughter real.

 

What is the best time of year to take photos?

Every season in Minnesota offers a different look for your photos, and the answer to this question comes down to what you prefer. Summer is great for golden hour photos late enough in the evening that your 9-5 day job won't get in the way. Spring can give some beautiful tree blossoms in the backdrop. Fall weather is a bit cooler and can still have some great golden hour opportunities with that beautiful autumn foliage. Winter can be cozy and offer fun photos in the snow, or can be a great time to utilize a studio! Something else to consider could be what type of outfit you envision for your session - which season does that outfit work best in? The beauty of Minnesota is that year-round, you really can't go wrong!

 

When should I schedule my engagement photos?

 

This is truly up to you, but I would recommend scheduling your engagement photos at least 7+ months prior to your wedding date. If you don't have a wedding date selected yet, that gives you even more flexibility. The reason you want to schedule at least 7 months in advance is to allow plenty of time to get your photos back and made into save-the-dates if that's how you plan to use this session!

 

What if the weather is bad on the day of an outdoor shoot?

I will keep a close eye on weather leading up to any outdoor session, and will always communicate with you as soon as possible if I don't feel that the weather will be safe or ideal for our session. If we do decide that the weather won't be great, then I will work with you to reschedule for a day and time close to the original session date without penalty.
